Waterford Chamber's HR Club will be offering an expert briefing with Ria White of White HR Solutions and MJ O'Connor Solicitors on the topic of key HR and employment law issues in relation to redundancies, stress management and equality as well as other people management strategies for operating businesses in a downturn.

This practical workshop will contain guidelines for keeping within the law, steps for implementing redundancies or short-time working as well as lessons from recent case law and will assist any business looking for expert guidance.

10 February 2009 - NERA releases annual report

NERA, the National Employment Rights Authority released its annual review stating they recovered over 3 million euro in wages owed to employees in 2008. The Annual Review showed the following :

• during 2008, NERA's inspectors carried out a total of 27,900 calls, interviews and inspections, an increase of 96% on 2007.
• NERA detected 4,629 breaches of employment law and arrears due totalling 3,112,064 euro were recovered.
• since the establishment of NERA on an interim basis in 2007 NERA has recovered over 5.5 million euro in wages due to employees.
